Understanding product compliance in the GCC and EU

To help navigate these complexities, Hourani & Partners, in collaboration with reuschlaw, hosted an exclusive breakfast seminar on the latest legal developments in product safety, recalls, and risk management in the GCC and EU.

The discussion covered key legal and regulatory frameworks that impact manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, complemented by real-world case studies. Reef Hourani, alongside Amgad Husein and Anas Akel from ZH Partners – our relationship firm in Saudi Arabia, shared insights on product recalls in the UAE, KSA, and the wider GCC, explaining what triggers them and how businesses can meet their compliance obligations. They also explored the legal responsibilities at different stages of the supply chain and how companies can protect themselves from liability.

From an EU perspective, Philipp Reusch and Daniel Wuhrmann of reuschlaw provided guidance on recent changes in European product safety laws, including stricter reporting requirements and liability rules. They also discussed practical steps businesses can take to minimize risks, handle crises effectively, and stay ahead of evolving regulations.
